New directory helps hospitality and brewing operators reduce supply chain emissions

Marketplace from Zero Carbon Forum has launched a directory of pioneering sustainability products and services dedicated to helping reduce hospitality and brewing operators’ supply chain emissions.

A recent benchmark study by Zero Carbon Forum, a non profit members organisation empowering the brewing and hospitality to reach sustainability targets at pace, revealed that Scope 3 emissions account for over 90% of overall emissions in the brewing and hospitality sectors. Now operators using Marketplace can quickly and easily source the latest innovations in carbon reducing products and services to radially reduce emissions across all scopes and reach net zero at pace.

Marketplace already connects 63 operators in over 35,000 sites to an extensive network of suppliers. Latest brands to join include Clearworld energy solutions, Kilmato carbon labelling for restaurants, Delphis Eco plant based cleaning products, Brakes UK wholesale food supplier, and Circular11, which transforms plastic pollution into a material solution, amongst others.

Mark Chapman, CEO at Zero Carbon Forum, said: ‘The brewing and hospitality sectors have some of the most complex supply chains with a wide range of suppliers from food, linen, to equipment, who may not have the same level of commitment to reducing emissions. They also often have limited control over their suppliers’ emissions from the transportation methods to the suppliers they use.

‘As a non profit collaborative group, we are helping the sector and our members to facilitate progress in this area, and to reach net zero at pace, through a measure, plan, reduce, approach. Through our detailed roadmaps, members can take actions to reduce Scope 3 emissions and now, through Marketplace, they can source the best in essential sustainable services and solutions that help accelerate the transformational change the industry needs to make.’

Mark added, ‘It is essential to have a collaborative effort to tackle the challenge of reducing emissions across the value chain and this is why we conceived Marketplace. The platform has grown at such a rate, showing the need for such a service. We are delighted to welcome so many new suppliers onto the directory, and look forward to continuing to receive many, many more applications if we are to radically reduce emissions before it is too late.’

Further suppliers to recently join Marketplace also include Emissis, specialists in reducing kWh consumption technology, True, a technology led sustainability consulting and reporting business, Agrasta Ltd, a go to marketplace for low carbon produce, and Footsteps, helping businesses grow in a compliant and sustainable way. These join a roster of well known brands including Britvic & The London Essence Co, Mitsubishi Electric and Wildfarmed.
