Voi offers people in Liverpool free riders if they take part in e-scooter and e-bike safe riding skills lessons

People can get free rides on Voi e-scooters and e-bikes in Liverpool – if they complete a safe scooter skills session which is also free of charge.

The company is running two events to help people in Liverpool learn how to ride e-scooters and e-bikes – covering the basics from how to sign up to the rules of the road.

The events are taking place on Saturday 29 June, at Canada Boulevard, Liverpool, between 10 am and 4 pm, and again on Wednesday 24 July, at Princess Boulevard, Liverpool, between 10 am to 4 pm.

Each scooter skills training session, run by National Cycling Academy will take around 30 minutes.

Participants get a day pass worth £7.99, so they can ride for free throughout the session, and an extra 15 minutes of free riding time to practice riding safely afterwards. They also get a free helmet, worth £35.

Visit National Cycling Academy’s website, and scroll to 'Voi – Liverpool E-Scooter and E-Bike Safe Riding Sessions' to book your place.

James Bolton, general manager, Voi UK, said: ‘Safety is our top priority. I would recommend anyone who rides or wants to ride our e-scooters or e-bikes  to take part in one of our safety events to build their confidence.

‘Everyone who signs up to Voi has to complete a short in app safety briefing before they can start their first ride. We also have free online training and regularly send out safety tips to our riders.

‘Using an e-scooter is a great way to get around without causing congestion or pollution. They are easy to use, affordable, reliable and sustainable.’

The company is also hosting a number of online ‘Ride Safe’ webinars which cover key aspects of safely riding a Voi e-scooter or e-bike, from how to start a ride, traffic rules, road riding etiquette, and how to park without causing an obstruction for pedestrians.

Live webinars run monthly until 12 December 2024 and can be booked here and anyone completing one of them will get 30 minutes of free riding credits.

To ride a Voi e-scooter, download the app, upload a copy of your full or provisional driving licence, take a selfie and complete the online safety driving school. Use the app to find the nearest vehicle, scan a QR code to unlock and ride. The company advises riders to wear helmets. All riders must be aged 18 or over.

The safety webinars are run by leading road safety education and training company, TTC, which has over 29 years of experience, educating more than 500,000 road users every year.
