Reconomy has announced the launch of Reconomy Nordics, a new regional set up established to provide a data driven circular economy solution for businesses across the Nordics.
The new solution will deliver the full range of ‘Recycle and Comply’ services across this region by bringing together its specialist waste management, recycling and materials recovery brands – Combineering and Sudamin Rohstoff – with Comply Loop’s packaging data capabilities and extended producer responsibility (EPR) expertise.

The new set up creates a powerful and differentiated customer proposition in a strategically important region where governments are prioritising circularity and sustainability, and businesses must comply with a range of existing and emerging regulatory frameworks. These include the Danish WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and battery take back schemes which are currently in effect, and the EPR for packaging, set to commence on 1 October 2025.
Customers will be able to leverage the company’s scale, technology and data driven insights to make better use of their materials, decouple growth from resource consumption, lower their carbon footprint and meet regulatory requirements across the region.
Torben Kristiansen, chief business development officer for Reconomy Nordics and executive director for CircuLab, will lead the new regional set up from its new office in Copenhagen, Denmark. The new location will also house analysts and business development colleagues that are part of the developing CircuLab team, the company’s new sustainability research innovation hub managed out of Bucharest.
This launch builds on its continued strong growth momentum having recently completed its sixth US acquisition to expand its North American footprint, established CircuLab to advance its leadership in the circular economy and appointed a new group chief financial officer to support the company’s next phase of growth.
Guy Wakeley, chief executive, commented: ‘I am pleased to see the launch of Reconomy Nordics. As our organisation remains on a fast growth trajectory, it is important that we put in place the right structures to harness the strengths and capabilities of the Group and set ourselves up for continued success. Reconomy Nordics is a great example of how we combine our global scale with deep local expertise, leaving us well positioned to provide exceptional services to our customers in key regions.’
Torben Kristiansen added, ‘I am delighted by the launch of this new regional set up that represents a compelling and unique customer proposition in an exciting market where governments are prioritising circularity and sustainability. We look forward to working closely with businesses in this region to help them close the circularity gap, conserve resources, minimise waste and achieve sustainable growth.’
