PlanetPlay, the not for profit using the power of video games for environmental action, is approaching Earth Day (April 22) with a powerful surge of activity designed to rally the global games industry and player community in support of a greener future.
As part of its ongoing Make Green Moves (MGM) campaign, PlanetPlay is unveiling three new celebrity ambassadors who will help shine a spotlight on the organisation’s mission to mobilise the world’s more than billion gamers to create real world environmental impact. Joining PlanetPlay as official Ambassadors are:
Sir Ian Livingstone – A founding father of the UK games industry and a leading advocate for ‘the power of play’.
Briana Evigan – American actress, dancer, and passionate advocate for environmental causes.
Pascal Wehrlein – German and Mauritian Formula E world champion.
In their new roles, the new ambassadors will work closely with PlanetPlay to champion sustainability both in and beyond the video games world, including by contributing exclusive in-game content to be featured across titles from PlanetPlay’s partner studios. They follow in the footsteps of fellow icons Demi Lovato, David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff and Joe Jonas in supporting the MGM cause.
MGM content will feature in April across top titles including Avakin Life (Lockwood Publishing), Fishing Clash (Ten Square Games), Peridot (Niantic), and Subway Surfers (SYBO).

In celebration of Earth Month – a month long global focal point for environmental awareness and action – PlanetPlay is also kicking off a new donations campaign, encouraging both individuals and game studios to contribute directly to the non profit’s expanding ecosystem of climate positive projects.
One hundred percent of the funds raised will go directly to environmental initiatives, supporting impactful climate positive projects around the world. By donating, players and game studios help drive tangible sustainability efforts while enjoying the games they love.
Sir Ian Livingstone said, ‘Throughout my career, I have seen how games can unlock the imagination, build skills, and inspire generations. With PlanetPlay, we have an opportunity to harness that same power for the planet. I am thrilled to be part of a movement that turns play into purpose, and helps gamers become everyday heroes in their quest for a greener future.’
Briana Evigan said, ‘I am so excited about becoming an ambassador for PlanetPlay because it is giving us the opportunity to blend storytelling and gaming in a way that helps bring people back to the heart of the earth. Stories have always been how we heal, connect, and grow, ultimately having the ability to transform the lives of millions.’
Pascal Wehrlein said, ‘As Formula E World Champion, I have seen firsthand how innovation and technology can drive real progress in sustainability. Gaming has the power to inspire change on a global scale. That is why I am excited to join PlanetPlay – together, we can engage millions of players in making a real impact for the planet while doing what we love.’
Rhea Loucas, CEO of PlanetPlay, said: ‘Video games have an incredible ability to connect people, inspire action, and make change feel accessible. Earth Month and Earth Day are cornerstone moments for the sustainability movement, and we are ramping up our efforts to meet that energy.
‘From welcoming powerful new Ambassadors, to launching a donations campaign – we are more committed than ever to helping gamers make green moves that matter.’
