Believ and Marston’s partner to accelerate pub group’s EV charging network

Electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ has announced a new strategic partnership with Marston’s plc, one of the UK’s leading local pub and hotel operators, to deliver fully funded EV charging infrastructure and further expand Marston’s EV charging network. 

The partnership marks the start of a long term collaboration between the two brands, with the first installations expected to go live in late 2026. The rollout will support Marston’s extensive UK estate of pubs, many of which also feature on-site accommodation, providing convenient and reliable EV charging for customers, communities and businesses. 

Marston’s already benefits from one of the largest rapid and ultra fast EV charging networks in the UK pub sector, with 542 chargers across 195 sites. This additional partnership with Believ marks the next phase of that ambition, accelerating the rollout of EV charging to new sites across the Marston's estate. 

Believ will deliver a mix of charging speeds tailored to different dwell times, including Standard, Standard Plus and Ultra Rapid charge points, enabling drivers to charge while eating or staying overnight. At least one accessible charging bay will be included at participating sites, supporting inclusive access for all EV drivers. 

The project will be fully funded by Believ, with the CPO providing an end to end service covering site assessment, design, installation, operation and ongoing maintenance. This approach removes upfront capital expenditure and operational complexity for Marston’s, while ensuring futureproofed charging infrastructure at scale. 

Demand for destination EV charging continues to grow rapidly, particularly among the significant number of drivers without access to home or off street charging.  

Since 2018, Marston's EV enabled pubs have charged enough power to keep vehicles on the road for more than 150 million miles, while saving over 33,600 tonnes of CO2, with every charger powered by renewable energy – a reflection of the company's broader commitment to sustainability and its ambition to reach net zero by 2040.  

This new partnership with Believ will extend that positive impact further, bringing reliable EV charging to new pub and hotel sites and ensuring more communities across the UK can benefit. 

Megan Goldstein, head of transaction management at Believ says the partnership highlights how destination charging is helping to drive the UK’s switch to EVs: ‘Marston’s pubs and hotels are a perfect match for EV charging, giving drivers the chance to top up while they are already enjoying a meal or fully charge while staying overnight.’
