BillerudKorsnäs number one in global sustainability rating

For the sixth consecutive year, #BillerudKorsnäs has received the highest rating level in #EcoVadis, thus continuing to be in the top of the companies being evaluated. This is one of several sustainability assessments, such as Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, that confirms that BillerudKorsnäs is one of the leading companies in sustainability within the industry.

‘We are proud to receive the Platinum medal by EcoVadis, which reflects BillerudKorsnäs’ commitment to sustainability. Sustainability is at the core of our business and we believe in a future where 100% of packaging is recyclable, renewable and fossil free. We still have a lot of work to do, and it is crucial that we succeed to involve our suppliers and customers on this journey,’ said Malin Ljung Eiborn, executive vice president Sustainability, BillerudKorsnäs.

The EcoVadis assessment is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of CSR into their business and management system. The methodology covers 21 criteria across four themes of environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

This year's evaluation shows that the company scores high in environmental and supply chain work. One example is its ambitious commitment to reduce carbon emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. Today the company uses 97% bio fuels in the production, and the long term goals is to become fossil free. Another important area is the sustainable procurement of wood, where BillerudKorsnäs complies with high standards.
